Rio de Janeiro
Nowadays Rio is so famous that it doesn’t really need promotion. I’m sure you’ve already associated it with Jesus Christ statue, Copacabana beach and Samba schools competition on Carnival. But, fortunately, there are plenty of things to know about. Before my description of main tourist attractions in Rio, I would like to mention that the statues of Rio as a main Gay-friendly city is justified with following numbers:
Gay beaches – 4, Praia da Reserva, Praia da Farme, Praia de Abricó, Praia da Bolsa
Gay nightclubs – around 18, for example, Le boy & La girl (Copacabana) and La Cueva (Copacabana)
Gay bars – 17
Gay SPA – 19, like Rio Gay SPA (Ipanema),  Copacabana SPA

Beach

Rio de Janeiro is all about beaches; besides some standard characteristics, like developed structure, good quality of customer service, consider that  beach culture here as strong as business one. Cariocas care about their beach wardrobe, probably, as much as New Yorker about social look. Going to beach in Rio remember here concentrates 80 % of Cariocas’ fashion.

Plus to all Rio is very famous with its gay beaches! Just imagine this! Considering that Cariocas has one of the most beautiful bodies in the world, this beaches has an awesome view in all meanings of this word ;)

Football (Maracanã Staduim)

You probably have already heard a lot how passion Brazilians are about football. The day when Brazilian team is playing on the world cup is like a day off in the whole country. So during years football became a part of Brazilian culture, to be in Brazil and go on football match in Maracanã stadium as important as to visit Coliseum in Rome. Nowadays the fame of this stadium is becoming only bigger due to World cup 2014 that’s going to happen in Brazil.

Favela (Ghetto) tour

If you want to see something different and exotic – try famous Rio favela tour, of course through some tourist agency. Rio de Janeiro has a worldwide fame with its ghettos.  Today a lot of tourist companies in Rio included this unusual tour to their service, this can be explained with curiosity of tourists and willing to see something risky; it isn’t just picture of poverty and crime it’s much more than this, it is a particular culture, art, way of living.  This tour shows another side of Brazilian reality and culture. By the way money earned from this tour goes to financial support to this communities.
P.S. NEVER try to do this tour alone, always use a service of well known guide from tourist agency

Lapa

This is a particular historical bohemian neighborhood in Rio – the oldest one. But besides history this place is also famous because of its nightlife; you have a chance to be on live music street parties with traditional Brazilian music.

Botanical Garden
This is perfect place to have a romantic walk, especially on a raining day. The garden impresses you with variety of thousand types of plants and trees. It has all possible type of palm trees. The Garden opens daily from 8 till 17, the ticket price is 4 R$.
